Really nice! Can't wait to see it finished.
Do you prime your canvass with any medium first before lying down the charcoal? It appears toned or is that just the color of the canvass itself?
Pastel primer + acrylic paint for the tone.
Do you have photo reference Dirk? If so, do you take the photos yourself or buy them online etc?Thank you for sharing this. Truly inspiring!
Hi Claire -I always use only photos that I take myself.
Ah, that's what I thought. If only I had your drawing and photography skills! Thank you for answering. :)
wow, it's really cool to see your process, and then the final piece, which looks amazing!!I'm just so puzzled how you keep charcoal so clean!!?? Do you use fixative in between Dirk? or just at the end?
Thanks!I only use fixative at the end. Lascaux 2070 and after that Lascaux UV protect 2072. Many, many layers each.
haha nice, thank you:)
so beautiful, so detailedhow did you add in the glints of the water and white strands of hair on the charcoal?
Amazing work! Is the girl for real? If she is then she shares her looks with a friend of mine.
Really amazing work!! Is the highlights made with white charcoal??
